DESCRIPTION
Native American healers have used extracts of this herbaceous perennial for centuries as a balm for menstrual and menopausal problems. Modern studies have provided scientific provenance for their actions – many of the issues associated with such complaints are linked to low oestrogen levels, and while black cohosh does not contain oestrogen it is said to stimulate an action in the brain that boosts levels of the chemical within the body.
